Alissa Santiago

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

I’m a queer, cis-gendered, Asian, psychodynamic psychotherapist. I offer a gentle, culturally sensitive space where you can slow down, breathe, and show up exactly as you are. Many of the people I work with come to therapy carrying old wounds, cultural expectations, or parts of themselves they’ve never been able to share out loud. You don’t have to hold all of that alone.Who I Support
I work with adults navigating:
• Trauma or childhood pain that still echoes today
• Feeling “not enough,” anxious, or overwhelmed
• Being late-to-life queer or exploring identity through sexuality and gender
• LGBTQ2+ identity, and relationship challenges
• Cultural identity, migration stories, and intergenerational patterns
• People-pleasing, burnout, or guilt around setting boundaries
• The push and pull between who you were taught to be and who you’re becoming
I am currently accepting clients virtually and limited in-person session in the east end of Toronto.

Therapy with me

My style is warm, curious, and deeply relational. I work from a psychodynamic foundation and integrate parts work, helping you understand the different inner voices or emotional parts that show up—those that try to protect you, those that carry old pain, and those longing for more space to be seen.Because I’m trauma-informed and grounded in anti-oppressive, decolonizing practice, we’ll pay attention not only to your personal story, but also to the cultural and systemic contexts shaping your experience. You never need to over-explain those layers—they matter here.

About

Pronouns: she/her

The frame: I offer 1 on 1 therapy sessions. Weekly sessions are recommended. Our work together: I aim to create a space where all parts of you are welcome, including the ones that feel unsure, scared, or newly emerging. Many of my clients come to therapy during a life transition—queer questioning, community belonging, renegotiating cultural expectations, or trying to break long-standing emotional patterns that no longer serve you.As someone deeply committed to trauma-informed care and anti-oppressive, decolonizing practice, I work with an understanding that our inner experiences are shaped not only by family and childhood, but also by culture, migration, race, gender, and systemic forces. You don’t have to explain or justify those layers here—they’re already part of the conversation.
